Double Double Toil and Trouble

These little witches were such a fun stitch. I had this very ornate tin hanging ornament in my stash for awhile and I just knew these witches would be perfect! I mounted them to the front (I like to use batting to make my ornaments a little puffier) and then added the coordinating twist cord around the edges. The twine already came with the tin so I didn't have to fuss with how to attach it cleanly.

These witchy sisters remind me of the wooden witches I recently bought at a fair.

I had to have them. In fact, there was a third witch sister that I'm kicking myself for not buying. I just loved the little pails! I still have no idea where I'm putting them, but they're super cute, nonetheless!

Pumpkin Spice Farm

I can't tell you how much I love this pattern. Besides the fact that it's fall-themed (my favorite), it has the most amazing -- and UNIQUE -- color combinations. I have to admit that when I first kitted up this project and saw the colors together, I questioned the choices a little bit and started playing with some substitutions before ultimately deciding to just trust it. I'm glad I did because they really pop against the fabric!

Speaking of the fabric, I really wanted to get a color very close to what was pictured in the pattern photo. I had none in my stash so I had a fabric-dyeing Saturday to get a bunch of it together. I'm really happy with the results of it. It's kind of like a sage green/grey combination and it looks really good against the white lettering.

I went with a white distressed fancy plaque for the base and used some basic green fabric I had in my stash for the backing. I tried four different twisted cord color combinations -- including two different oranges and two different lavenders -- before settling on basic white. They just didn't seem to jive some reason. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I can't wait to put it up!

Pumpkin Cottage Easel-back

I'm obsessed with these pumpkin cottage designs lately. I always love stitching the cottage pieces from Little House and Country Cottage Needleworks, but the fall-specific cottages are definitely my faves. Sooo cute!

I had finished a similar pumpkin cottage easel-back awhile back and really liked it, but when I saw I changed up the wood pallet to include a more non-traditional fall blue, I really fell in love with it!

The stitched piece was mounted to some brown fabric and then I used DMC #597 to create a twist cord to edge the piece. Then I just added a burlap bow with a cover button. Nice and easy fall finish.
